“Cairo + 10” is the popular name for the 10-year evaluation of the UN World Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) that took place in 1994 in Cairo, Egypt.  On that occasion, the member states of the United Nations adopted a Programme for Action and agreed to evaluate it every 5 years. Thus, Cairo + 5 took place in 1999 and in June of this year, the Latin American and Caribbean “Cairo + 10” will take place in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

The Latin American and Caribbean Women´s Network (RSMALC) is mobilizing its constituency to influence the process, affirming reproductive rights and health of women and the Programme of Action adopted by The United Nations and its responsibility to implement it. The are holding a Women´s Forum and celebrating the Network´s 20th anniversary.
