Today, August 4, women with disabilities from various countries met in caucus to develop a proposal to incorporate gender into the Convention. Their proposal creates a new Article 4 (bis) affirming the Convention's intent to protect the human rights of women and girls with disabilities as well as men and boys with disabilities. The document also includes specific references to women and girls with disabilities in several of the Articles in the Convention, including articles dealing with health care, rehabilitation, the right to work, family and privacy, and data and statistical research.
